REEMAY® Spunbonded Polyester – 17gsm
REEMAY® 17gsm is a strong, stable spunbonded polyester nonwoven suitable for a range of conservation, collection care and bookbinding applications.
Made from continuous filament polyester fibres, REEMAY® has a consistent, non-ravelling structure with excellent dimensional stability and high tensile and tear strength. It is resistant to many chemicals and has low media migration, making it a useful material for conservation work where strength, stability and controlled permeability are important.
This 17gsm grade has straight polyester fibres, giving it a relatively firm, tightly structured feel compared with softer, more conformable crimped-fibre grades. The heavier construction makes it particularly useful where a stronger, more supportive polyester layer is required.
Typical conservation applications
REEMAY® can be used in a variety of conservation and collection-care applications, including:
- Support and handling of fragile or wet materials
- Interleaving and separation during conservation treatments
- Support layers in drying and pressing processes
- Reinforcement and structural support
- Book and paper conservation
- Protective and archival applications
- Creating custom conservation supports and interleaving materials
