Photographic Albums
Triptych specialises in the conservation of magnetic (self-adhesive) photograph albums, which can present significant long-term risks to photographs and other paper-based materials.
The highly acidic adhesive used in many magnetic albums can contribute to the deterioration of photographs over time, while the plastic overlay can become brittle, discoloured and prone to cracking or shattering.
During treatment, we carefully remove each photograph and item from the original album, taking care to minimise further damage. Following removal, items can either be returned to you as loose photographs and memorabilia or rehoused in archival-quality sleeves within a conservation-grade binder.
Additional pages can be incorporated to record captions, dates, names and other contextual information. These pages are designed to allow information to be recorded alongside your photographs without causing indentation, transfer or bleed-through.
